A Saudi Born Woman Running for California State Assembly

I’ve came across an article about a lady, which I should call super lady here, named Mrs Ferial Masry, a woman born to BaitAlmal family in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, and is now running for the California State Assembly, and I am sure has bigger dreams and grand plans in politics. Now if that is not part of the American Dream I do not know what is.

I do not know much about her more than what I’ve read online, she has written a book which my wife and I plan on getting our hands on soon called “Running for All the Right Reasons“

I wish her the best, I cannot say more about her, she said it all in her book and sites, but I have to say that I feel happy and proud…. You go girl!

    She is a remarkable lady.
    Peter Jennings appearance on the video made me cry.
    He was a mentor and a teacher. He was a kind and loving man that we all adored and respected.
    I hated y self for missing his funeral four years ago.
    But I simply couldn’t go. I couldn’t take the fact that he was gone.
    Rest in peace my dear friend. Rest in peace and I’ll see you in heaven in sha Allah :’)

    You could talk to him for hours and never have enough of him.
    He was such a gentleman in every way.

  6. Thanks for making me aware of Ferial Masry. I particularly enjoyed the video, and the part where she makes it seem that the only thing between her and the Presidency is her country of birth–you go girl, indeed!

    Peter Jennings was a class act and the first Canadian journalist to be recruiting to a major US network. His father was a journalist for the CBC and assigned to the Middle East when he was a child:

    As a journalist, I always found Jennings intelligent, balanced, and above the fray. A loss.

  8. Not Stephen Harper! :)
    He was the only defender of every wrong move president Bush toke.
    He would hold a press conference every time a controversial policy is adopted by Bush to defend him and his policy before the U.S. president do so himself. I just couldn’t believe it looool
    I really thought for a while that he was the mouth piece for the Bush administration :)

  10. Qusay–I second your carte crème and make it a grand crème.

    It’s worse than that Saud. Harper is to the far right of the right in Canada. He sided with Bush on Iraq against his own government, and went on Fox News to proclaim it, after taking out a full page ad in the NYT to declare his disappointment in Chretien’s decision not to join that one thank you (we are still in Afghanistan), and blaming it on the French Canadians/Province of Quebec.

    When not handing innocent Canadian Arab Muslims over for rendition to black sites and torture in their former home countries, he is leaving other “brown” Canadians to rot in the jails of their respective countries, on no, false, or trumped up charges, and defying the Federal Court of Canada’s orders to return them.

    He paid 2 Arab Muslim Canadians to mislead youth in a suburban mosque into a “terrorist plot” and then arrested them with great photo ops. Most have been released with charges dropped (but reputations ruined and lives disrupted), and the one spy taking the stand and explaining how they weren’t really very good at terrorizing, being wusses in the cold and preferring coffee and doughnuts at the local Tim Horton’s to training.

    Harper supported the Israeli invasions of Lebanon and Gaza and offered precious little but great photo op help to Lebanese-Canadians stranded there.
    He promised great improvements to aboriginal living conditions, and then when they, who really are at risk of epidemic swine flu fatalities, because of their 3rd world living conditions (bidonville style), sent them not the Tamiflu, water purifiers etc expected, but–body bags!

    Let see–deported Portuguese construction workers and their families because they can’t fight back, and he had their kids sequestered at school so they wouldn’t escape the deportation order. Oh yes and my personal favourite: Omar Khadr–child soldier (15 when captured), tortured in various black sites before being put in the worst block in Guantanamo, tortured some more (with the help of information from Canada), deprived of counsel,in solitary much of the time, tricked, deprived of much needed surgical, medical (allowed to go blind in one eye), and then psychiatric treatment, getting more support from his Christian Evangelical US Military lawyer than Canada, and the ONLY Western citizen still in Guantanamo, even though the Canadian Bar Association and the internationally ranked Clarke Institute of Psychiatry have guaranteed his care,supervision, and rehabilitation with the help of his maternal grandparents and no contact with his paternal family including mother, sister, and brothers. The report of his killing a US soldier (things like that happen in war) was falsified, and it turns out he was already seriously wounded, and slumped with his back turned to the soldier who was killed with a grenade someone else threw.

    So Saud, I agree with you 1000% about Harper. The only thing cool about the man are his chilled blue eyes and his frozen heart.

    Qusay–I think that was my rant for today. Maybe… LOL :) :P

  12. Thanks for sharing about this lady. So she is running again, I take it? I was expecting a video from now, but as soon as I saw Peter Jennings I knew she ran years ago.

    It was sad when he died. I grew up watching him and it is always weird when someone you “invite” into your house is suddenly gone. Maybe I am weird for getting attached to people that way.

    Anyway, what a super-neat lady! Please keep us posted on her. :)
